Tas Heel Curriculum - Grade 5

The Tas-Heel Series is a renowned Islamic curriculum developed by the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa. Designed specifically for English-speaking students, this comprehensive 12-grade program makes learning Islam "easy" without sacrificing depth. By integrating essential knowledge—from theology and history to daily etiquette—the series provides a balanced foundation that grows with the child, ensuring they develop a strong Muslim identity rooted in authentic scholarship.

In Grade 5, the curriculum introduces a more detailed study of social and financial obligations. Designed for students aged 10–11, the material focuses on the practical application of faith in a community setting, specifically focusing on the third and fourth pillars of Islam.

Key Learning Modules for Grade 5:

• Aqaa’id (Beliefs): Focuses on the Names and Attributes of Allah (Asma-ul-Husna) and the concept of Qadr (Divine Decree), helping students navigate the understanding of destiny.

• Fiqh (Practice): A comprehensive introduction to Zakat (Charity) and Hajj (Pilgrimage). Students learn the basic requirements, the spirit behind these acts, and the importance of helping the less fortunate.

• Akhlaaq (Manners): Discusses "Internal Sincerity" and the importance of Ikhlas (intention). It also covers the rights of neighbors and the etiquette of speech.

• Tareekh (History): Covers the Major Battles of Islam (Badr and Uhud) and the treaties made by the Prophet ﷺ, highlighting the qualities of leadership and resilience.

• Du'as & Hadith: Includes the Talbiyah for Hajj and Ahadith regarding the rewards of charity and the importance of a clean heart.
